What induces stress in one person need not cause frustration in the other. But anxiety is a state of fear or apprehension without any cause known or recognized. Thus it contributes to the agony and distress of the individual. In short stress and anxiety are two separate and different entities caused and treated differently. Anxiety disorders are the combined effect of psychiatric conditions creating excessive anxiety in the person.

On the other hand emotional imbalance like extreme sorrow or grief, depression, over active thyroids, low blood sugar, and even heart attacks are the causes of stress. Stress and anxiety should be properly treated and paramount importance should be placed on finding the root cause of the problem. This may not be possible even if one starts making a list of things that cause stress to a person.

Soon after the origin of stress is identified you should pour out your feelings and thoughts to some trustworthy friend or relative. This way stress and anxiety can be relieved. There are also communities that have support groups and hot lines to help out.

One has to lead a healthy life and eat a balanced diet without over eating. Enough sleep should be enjoyed and exercise will bring down stress and anxiety if done regularly. Alcohol and Nicotine are a taboo as well as caffeine and cocaine or any other recreational drug.
